Seriously, my cat is ridiculously adorable. Ridiculously.

The past month has been crazy. A real time of transition for me, and not just in the traditional "new year's" sense. If anything, those type of resolutions, while they have been considered, are being saved for my birthday this year because I just haven't been able to wrap my head around them. I feel like my whole life is in overhaul right now, in a good way...

so here's what's been going on... )

So I guess that about catches us up. That's the main stuff. I have been reading everyone elses posts, I just haven't had the time (or presence of mind, really) to post myself. Something else I'll have more time for in the future!

I got a cat!!

For Christmas, Matt got me a certificate to adopt a kitty from the Humane Society. So after we returned from our trip to PA (more on that later) we decided to cash in. There were only 4 kitties there on the  day we went to look. We weren't necessarily expecting to find THE CAT with only four to choose from, but decided to fill out the match form and see who there was to meet. One of the cats they recommended for us was Ted aka Big Head Ted who is this huge cat. We had kind of ruled him out on the website, thinking we might want a girl (why, I'm not sure, but we had it in our heads) and that we didn't want a big cat. But we met him. And I fell in love. LOVE. He is the sweetest bestest kitty in the world, for serious. He was a stray, a former Tom (who was neutered after coming to the shelter) which is why he's so big (15 pounds--and he's not a fat cat, he's just BIG). But he's really just a big baby. He loves to cuddle and snuggle and be petted. He likes to be with his people, which is what I've always wanted, a pet that wants to be with me. He's housebroken, he's friendly, he doesn't claw at my furniture (we had to coax him to even come up onto the sofa and bed with us), he purrs a lot but isn't very vocal otherwise and he's just a big sweet teddy bear of a cat. The neighbor's kitty--Black Cat--is still terrified of him, but when she comes over and is freaked out he just stays in his spot on the sofa, waiting for her to approach. And he likes string. He's gaga for the string. LOVES IT. Probably about as much as I love him.
